NACHOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Nacho Libre had to be great, right? I mean if you saw any trailers or posters or anything you just knew how ridiculous it would be. Jack Black just flat out rules! He’s been good in everything. OK, no, I can’t say that, definitively, as I have not yet rented Never Ending Story 3.
Happy Father’s day to ME! My wife and kids suprised me with breakfast in bed. It was my favorite – French Toast or Freedom Toast or whatever other completely awesome name congress has come up with. By the way, thanks to Congress for spending even one second pondering what to call fries in the face of Norman Non-Cooperation. What a wise use of time. Speaking of time, we almost didn’t make the movie on time. I was doing some emergency work for a client. I got to the theater with enough time to save seats for Kevin Grose and Matt Steele. Good thing we made it because this movie is hilarious! Seriously, it was simple algebra: (Jack Black + Mike White) X Jared Hess/Mexico= Muy Good Movie.

After Napoleon Dynamite, I wondered if lightning would strike twice for director, Jared Hess. It turns out there was no lightning. He’s just a great director. He has really created his own style. He gets unique stuff from his actors too. I can’t wait to see what he chooses to do next. I will get in the theater earlier faster then.

Jack Black plays a white dude in Mexico. I really connected with that because I too lived in Mexico. I can’t tell you where since I was so young. I’m pretty sure we were there for my dad’s import/export business. For some reason we weren’t there very long. Hmmm. Anyway, enough about my early days.

Jared Hess has done it again. A touching and funny movie that succeeds without any real cussing or even a French Kiss…or wait… Freedom Kiss?? I did NOT hate it!!
