Godspeed, Papa
May 30th
Today we remember Jim Stauss with stories and songs of worship to his God. He passed away last week. Jim was my wife’s father. He loved Jade so much. He was a kind man who never spoke of ill of people. He had patience for days and a smile for everyone. He had one of the best work ethics I’ve witnessed. We worked at Westmont College at the same time. I would always hear from co-workers what a good soul he was. He was a proud grandfather who my kids refered to as “Papa” with great affection. He was a wonderful husband to Jade’s mom, Tracy. An all around good man. Like most of us close to him, I wish I had spent more time with him. This seems too short of a post, but he was a man of few words so maybe it’s appropriate. I don’t know.
Brothers Gotta Hug!!
May 22nd
I got to take my brother-in-law, Trevor Lyon, to see The Flight of the Conchords at the Santa Barbara Bowl! It was a lovely night of laughter after a really tough week. I wish we lived closer because he is good people. Like, I would actually hang out with him even if I wasn’t married to his sister. I mean, not if wasn’t married to her now or anymore after having been married. That would be awkward and logistically challenging. It wouldn’t look good for him to travel all the way out from Atlanta to just hang with Jade’s ex-husband. There would be hurt feelings and angry words and ruined lives.
I’ll just stay married.
