from USS Hornet after they picked up a couple guys named Buzz and Neil
in the ocean.
Sweet… My grandpa helped build the guidance control systems and was part of the team that figured out how to get the Apollo 13 guys home safely. They put his name, among others, on a plaque on the moon because of all his work
Wow, cool connections to the greatest technical achievement in history! I had a chance to tour the Hornet (it’s parked at NAS Alameda) and speak with a docent who was on board for the pick-up. He seemed as excited as he must have been on that day.
